Dhangadi, May 9 People have been facing problems due to the under-construction Dhangadi-Attariya road stretch in Kailali. Locals residing on either side of the road complained that vehicles plying on the six-lane road stretch were polluting the air with dust. The six-lane road is being constructed from Mohana Bridge of Dhangadi to Attariya. “Hundreds of people are facing problems due to the dust,” said Khangendra Khatri, a local. He said dust had completely covered the surroundings. Locals said no authority concerned or the construction company had paid attention to the dust, which was directly affecting people’s health. They added no measure had been put in place to minimise the dust. Locals have frequently protested against the authority concerned to minimise dust. “We have requested the project office and construction company to adopt measures to minimise the dust time and again, but in vain,” said a local, Dipak Khadka. He said they were facing severe problem for a long time due to the dust caused by delay in completion of road upgradation work. Engineer Khagendra Shahi of the Road Project Office said water was being sprayed, but it was not sufficient. The six-lane road is an important project of the province. The construction of the road has been half completed even though two years have passed. According to the six-lane Road Project Office, construction work has to be completed by mid-June as per the agreement, but only 40 per cent work have been completed till date. Shahi said preparation was under way to extend the time as construction was delayed. The dust raised has affected people’s health since months
