Dhurmus Suntali Foundation forms Sports Committee

KATHMANDU, MAY 9 Dhurmus Suntali Foundation on Thursday formed a 13-member Sports Committee under taekwondo ace Olympian Deepak Bista for the construction campaign of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium. Sporting stars Hari Khadka (football), Sangina Baidya (taekwondo), Bharat Shah and Saraswoti Chaudhary (volleyball), Binod Das and Rubina Chhetry (cricket), Gaurika Singh (swimming), Deepak Shrestha (karate), Deepak Maharjan (boxing), Maheshwor Maharjan (bodybuilding), Anil Gurung and Sabitra Bhandari (football) and COO of Cricket Association of Nepal Chhumbi Lama are the members in the committee. Likewise, legendary marathon runner Baikuntha Manandhar, former national football team skipper Raju Kaji Shakya, Former CAN CEO Bhawana Ghimire and national cricket team head coach Jagat Tamatta have been appointed as advisors along with the presidents of 13 national sports associations — volleyball, football, cricket, taekwondo, karate, bodybuilding, table tennis, badminton, swimming, boxing and wushu. Also, the Foundation appointed national cricket team skipper Paras Khadka and national team member Sandeep Lamichhane as the Goodwill Ambassadors. “The Foundation has taken the responsibility of construction of the stadium in Chitwan to make it a sports hub. We will run campaigns at home and abroad to raise funds and help Foundation from our side,” said Bista. National cricket team skipper Khadka was happy to be associated with the campaign. “The Foundation is working for our cause and I believe the campaign will give positive message worldwide. I have been helping the Foundation from the beginning and we will do whatever possible from our side to help the campaign,” said Khadka. Foundation President Sitaram Kattel was excited after the announcement of the Sports Committee. “We have already formed various committees required to construct the stadium. I believe the Sports Committee will be able to bring all athletes into the campaign and make them a part of it,” he added.
