KATHMANDU: Celebrations of Ubhauli have begun in the country today by the Kirat community. The full moon day today marks the beginning of a month-long celebration of the festival, the major attribute of which is to worship nature. Kirati community, known to be devoted to the nature, celebrate Ubhauli by worshipping the land and performing a traditional dance called Sakela. The festival is celebrated for good harvest, peace and prosperity in the community. Ubhauli is marked for a month from Baishakh Shukla Purnima of the lunar calendar, which also coincides with Buddha Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Buddha. READ ALSO:
