Kathmandu, May 21 Nepal Police has deployed more than 50 expert police personnel in Arubote of Miklajung Rural Municipality, Panchthar, to investigate last night’s gruesome incident, in which nine members of two families were brutally murdered. Police in neighbouring districts Ilam, Dhankuta, Taplejung, Jhapa and Morang are also on high alert to track down suspects fleeing after the bloodbath. Police said it was also coordinating with police in the Indian state of Sikkim, which borders Panchthar. A team of 15 police personnel led by Senior Superintendent of Police Sharad Kumar Khatri from Federal Police Unit, Dharan, has been tasked with the investigation. Sniffer dogs have also been sent to the crime scene. Police chief of Province 1 Deputy Inspector General Kedar Rijal said his unit had been conducting separate investigation. Similarly, Central Investigation Bureau has deputed a special team headed by Superintendent of Police Uma Prasad Chaturvedi to the incident site. DIG Bishwa Raj Pokharel, spokesperson for Nepal Police, said, “Preliminary circumstantial evidences show that police are close to making public the culprit(s) behind the heinous crime.”
