Rajbiraj, May 23 Locals are compelled to spend sleepless nights due to fear of wild tuskers in Agnisair Krishnasabaran Rural Municipality. Locals have lost their sleep as a group of elephants entered and demolished their settlements about a week ago. Villagers said they had not been able to sleep due to fear of the wild tuskers that have been destroying houses and crops at night. Property worth millions was destroyed after elephants destroyed a dozen houses in Agnisair Krishnasabaran and Rupani rural municipalities yesterday. The wild tuskers destroyed houses belonging to Dipak BK, Man Bahadur Tamang, Jakir Miya, Aashish Chaudhary and Bal Bahadur Tamang in Agnisair Krishnasabaran Rural Municipality and houses belonging to Jagarup Yadav and Dik Bahadur Asmali in Rupani Rural Municipality, last night. Locals complained that the administration did not pay attention to their plight. A local, Bhakta Bahadur Tamang, said every household had been lighting fire and staying awake for the whole night after elephants started entering settlements areas. “We are living in constant fear of losing our lives,” he added. Ward No 2 Chair Shree Kumari Chaudhary said wild elephants entered human settlements and destroyed houses and property. Sitapur Health Post Chief Harinarayan Chaudhary said elephants had destroyed the health post, which is next to Armed Police Force Base Camp, on Monday night. Nine members of a family in Agnisair Krishnasabaran Rural Municipality have been rendered homeless after elephants destroyed their house, on Saturday.
