70 schools damaged in Kailali windstorm

Dhangadi, June 11 Seventy schools were partially damaged in a massive dust storm that hit Kailali district last Thursday. Following the incident, students’ attendance has gone down. The storm blew away zinc sheets that roofed some schools while other schools have developed cracks. Raghunath Ojha, head teacher of Rastriya Secondary School in Dhangadi sub-metropolis, said most of the students had their houses partially damaged in the incident. “Many students have stopped attending classes. Those who come to attend class take only half the number of classes,” Ojha stated. The roof of Rastriya Secondary School was blown away. After the incident, Grade I students are being taught under a tree while Grade II students are taught inside roofless classroom. Likewise, the windstorm blew away the roofs of two classrooms at Sharada Secondary School in Dhangadi. After the incident, students have been kept with students of other classes and taught together. Head teacher Dhirgha Raj Joshi said they were having a hard time teaching students of two grades in the same classroom. According to Kailali DAO, 25 schools in Dhangadi and 10 in Godawari Municipality and seven in Kailari Rural Municipality were damaged in the storm. Dhangadi Sub-metropolis’ Education Department Section Officer Akbar Chand said the storm had hit the most schools in the sub-metropolis. “Many schools were damaged, but classes were not halted,” Chand said. Section Officer Ganesh Mishra at Kailari Rural Municipality said that though some schools were damaged, classes were not halted. Similarly, the dust storm has partially damaged 18 government offices and 20 health facilities in Kailali. from the video using foul language and trying to defame people involved in the movie.
