Eight hundi operators, including two Indian, held with Rs 4.1mil

KATHMANDU: Police said alleged hundi operators have been arrested in possession of Rs 4.19 million and undeclared 2.9 silver from Maiisthan of Birgunj Metropolitan City-6 on Monday. District Police Office, Parsa, identified the alleged hundi operators as Vinod Sunar, 33, of Chandrapur Municipality-7 in Rautahat district, Raj Kapor Sah, 35, of Chiparmai Municipality-2 in Parsa district, Chandan Kumar Saraff, 26, of Birgunj Metropolis-10, Rakesh Kumar Singh, 37, of Birgunj Metropolis-6, Sujeet Kumar Sah, 24, of Bindabasani Rural Municipality-2 in Parsa district, Ghanshyam Saraff, 29, of Parwanipur Rural Municipality-1 in Bara district, Sunil Kumar Prasad, 36, of Motihari East Champaran in Bihar and Gulab Sah, 35, of Motihari Nainpur in Bihar of India. Acting on a tip-off, a police team deployed from District Police Office, Parsa, raided Sornakalakendra jewellery shop and apprehended alleged hundi operators along with Rs 4.19 mil in cash and silver. Meanwhile, a joint team of police from DPO and Inland Revenue Office, Birgunj, sealed the shop for further investigation and action, police said.
