KATHMANDU: The Department of Agriculture has announced that the National Paddy Day would be celebrated from Bardiya district this year. Organising a press meet on Wednesday, the department informed that the National Paddy Day will be celebrated in Rajapur municipality. The main motto of this year’s National Paddy Day will be promotion of technology and machinery to reduce paddy import. As per the department, the domestic production falls short by 600,000 tonnes in meeting the market demand. Since the monsoon has started, and the area of paddy plantation has also been increased, the department is expecting good growth of paddy production this year.
