Tribute to Khadka
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has paid tribute to Pradhyumna Khadka, a worker of the Nepali Congress who attained martyrdom for the sake of democracy. Khadka, who had sustained bullet injuries at Kalanki on April 20, died while undergoing treatment at Delhi on Saturday. The party has also extended heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family. — RSS
Bus link with Lhasa
KATHMANDU: An agreement has been reached between Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of the People’s Republic of China to give continuity to the Kathmandu-Lhasa-Kathmandu direct bus service, which had been in operation so far on a trial basis. Both the sides have agreed to make the service more effective, the Ministry of Labour and Transport Management said. The agreement to resume the direct bus service between the two countries was reached following a discussion held from April 19-21 in Lhasa between a team led by Joint Secretary at the Ministry Dinesh Hari Adhikari and party secretary-general Paba Cicheng of the Communications Department of the Tibet Autnomous Region (TAR) of China. — RSS
26 donate blood
KATHMANDU: Twenty-six persons belonging to blood groups other than A-positive and O-positive donated blood on Saturday at a camp organised by the Subash Smirti Prastisthan (SSP) at the Chhaku Baku temple, New Baneshwor. Those having A-positive and O-positive blood types were not allowed to donate blood because of excessive stock of these blood groups, the Subash Smirti Prastisthan said. Chandra Bahadur Khadka, SSP chairman, handed over certificates to the donors. — HNS
