DHANGADI: The ward office of Jorayal Rural Municipality-4 in Doti district has been torched by an unidentified group of perpetrators on Monday night. According to Sub Inspector (SI) Mahendra Thapa at Jorayal Area Police office, the ward office was set on fire at around midnight. The fire gutted all the documents and furniture housed inside the chamber of ward chairperson as well as the roof of the ward office, informed ward chairperson Nanda Raj Bhatta. The fire spread to other parts of the building and also destroyed all the documents filed at the secretary's chamber; sparing only few furniture, added Chairperson Bhatta. A team deployed from Jorayal-based Area Police Office under the command of Inspector Thapa reached the incident site for inspection. Handwritten pamphlets with various slogans in it were also found at the site, informed police. The pamphlets read slogans in it including call for withdrawing the decision to produce a film. Police suspected the involvement of Netra-Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) behind the arson attack. The attack might have been carried out to protest the allocation of budget for the production of a film 'Sanglo'. Earlier, the rural municipality had allocated Rs 1 million for the production of the film, which was highly criticised by local residents. Meanwhile, investigation into the case is underway, police informed.
