10 killed, 25 injured in Lamjung road accidents, in one year: Traffic Police

LAMJUNG: As many as 10 persons have been killed in road accidents in mid-hilly Lamjung district in the last one year. According to Lamjung District Traffic Police Office (DTPO), 10 persons were killed in 17 separate road accidents in the district from mid-July of 2018 to mid-June of 2019. Moreover, 25 persons were seriously injured in accidents. Among the deceased, four were men, another four were women and two others were children. Five motorcycles, four buses, four tractors, two jeeps, and a truck were involved in various accidents in the period of one year, informed Chief of the DTPO, Chab Bahadur Gharti. He further added that 10 persons were killed in 14 road accident in the fiscal year 2016-17. Traffic police in the district have launched various campaign to reduce traffic accidents over the past year. Last year, a programme was launched for the drivers, pedestrians and personnel related to traffic management along with the community police partnership programme, said Gharti. Traffic police have increased the alert in the road safety, however, because of rural road extension, increased traffic congestion, and lack of adequate manpower, the office could not achieve good results in the minimisation of the traffic accidents, informed the DTPO.
