BAJURA: Landslides at various parts of the Sanfe-Martadi road section in Bajura district have disrupted transportation in the region since Sunday. According to entrepreneur of Jay Malika Transport, Prithvi Rawal, the landslides have affected the movement of both vehicles and locals in the region. Vehicles are not able to move ahead of Balde Bazaar. Both long and short route services have stopped due to the landslide at Dwari triggered by continuous rainfall in the region from Saturday, said a passenger Hira Rawat. Continous downpour in the region has affected the road services, said Ganga Prasad Neupane, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Bajura. Landslides both above and below the road in Barjugad-Guigad bridge, Balde, Amkot, Tipada and Paninaula have caused the road to cave in. Engineers from the Road Division Office, Sanfe are already at the site to clear the road to resume operation of transportation. According to Daman Bista, an engineer at the Road Division Office, current road alignment needs to be changed for which houses situated in the area may need to be demolished as it would be difficult to continue transportation on the caved-in road. Furthermore, CDO Neupane has been informed regarding the plan so as to receive the approval from concerned authorities. The team is ready to execute the plan as soon as the order is issued, added Bista. Concerned authorities were informed regarding the worrisome condition of the Sanfe-Martadi road section but no actions were taken, said civil society leader Sher Bahadur Shahi. Last year, transportation on the Sanfe-Martadi road section had halted for three months.
