Gaighat, August 27 Dengue virus in Katari Municipality of Udayapur district is yet to come under control. According to Udayapur District Public Health Office, the dengue virus was detected in three persons on Sunday. DPHO added that 32 persons were infected with dengue in Katari Municipality till date. Of the three municipalities in the district, the highest number of dengue cases were reported in Katari Municipality. Mayor Gyanendra Shrestha said some patients are receiving treatment at local health centres while some were being treated in Dharan and Biratnagar-based health facilities. With increase in the number of dengue patients, Katari Municipality has launched awareness campaign and provided necessary kits and medicines to residents in all wards of the municipality. Deputy Mayor Bhim Kumari Raut said the municipality has provided financial help to hospitals to buy medicines for dengue patients. “Patients have been increasing on a daily basis and the disease is yet to be controlled,” she added. Raut said Katari Municipality had started a campaign to kill mosquitoes and deployed health workers for awareness campaign against the disease in the affected areas. Meanwhile, Triyuga Municipality Mayor Baldev Chaudhary said no new cases of dengue had been reported for the past few days in the municipality. “Number of patients is constant and they are being treated,” he added. Chaudhary said pesticide has been sprayed to control dengue in municipal areas. He said that public awareness campaign was also being launched in the municipality.
