The demonstrators shouted slogans against the mayor and sought his immediate resignation, saying that he had failed to discharge his responsibilities. In the memorandum, Mayor Sarawagi has been accused of doing nothing to improve physical infrastructure of the municipality, leaving development works stranded, interfering with the operation of community schools and burdening people with additional taxes. RJP-N Joint General Secretary Nijamuddin Samani charged that Mayor Sarawagi, who has business background, had failed to fulfil his responsibility eventhough he was elected by poeple, thereby shattering the hopes of Birgunj residents.
