KATHMANDU: Nepal youth cricket team faced a 89-run defeat against Chilaw Marians Cricket Club in their third and final practice match ahead of the U-19 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka on Friday. Batting first, the home team posted 224-8 in their allotted 50 overs before Nepal were packed for 135 runs in 40.3 overs. Suhaga Wijewardena top scored for Chilaw, while Surya Tamang and Pawan Sarraf took two wickets each for the visiting side. In reply, Asif Sheikh scored 44 off 84 balls hitting four boundaries for Nepal, while Bhim Sharki (26), Rit Gautam (25) and Sarraf (12) contributed in double figures. Naveen Gunawardana and Sheshan Silva claimed three wickets each for Chilaw. Nepal are drawn in Group B along with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates in the U-19 Asia Cup slated for September 5-14.
