Feasibility study of cable car construction begins in Badimalika

Bajura, September 4 A feasibility study has been carried out for construction of cable car in the religious and tourist spot at Badimalika area of Badimalika Municipality in Bajura. Sudurpaschim Province government had mentioned it would construct the cable car in Badimalika area in its policy and programmes in fiscal 2017-18. The then District Development Committee had forwarded the masterplan for construction of cable car, but there was no follow-up till date. Badimalika Municipality Mayor Padam Baduwal said discussion with stakeholders, investors, province and federal governments had begun after the feasibility study was carried out for cable car operation. He added that the municipality had allocated Rs five million for preparation of detailed project report this fiscal. Mayor Baduwal said Chandra Dhakal, the operator of Chandragiri Hills cable car, showed keen interest in constructing cable car at Badimalika area. “We have been holding discussion with some investors and planning to carry out DPR along with the feasibility study,” he added. The mayor also said the cable car would be extended up to Lauribhanjyang making the base at Budhakorda Village. Binod Upadhaya, a researcher of Research Inputs and Development Action Private Limited said the cable car would cover a distance of 4.86 kilometres. Budhakorda is a trekking route to Badimalika, which is nine kilometres away from Martadi. A road is also being constructed to reach the place. Bajura Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chair Dev Bahadur Rokaya said economic development would be enhanced if cable car was operated in the area. Badimalika area holds religious significance in the Far-west.The popular Badimalika temple is thronged by thousands of Hindu devotees every year, besides trekkers.
