Rautahat, September 6 Kin of Sanjudevi Sahani, who was found dead at her home in Rajpur of Rautahat yesterday, suspect the involvement of Sahani’s in-laws behind her death and claimed that it was ‘homicide’. They filed an FIR with the police today, claiming Sahahi was killed over dowry issue. Sanjudevi’s in-laws, however, said it was a suicide. “She’d been putting up with physical and mental torture at the hands of her husband and his family, who were unhappy because they had not got a motorbike in dowry. So they killed her,” alleged Sanjudevi’s father Abilash Sahani. “I’d gone to see my daughter for the last time after they’d informed me of her suicide and noticed bruises around her neck, which was clear evidence of murder,” he said, adding, “In fact, my son-in-law, Rambabu had started torturing her demanding a bike ever since he saw us giving a bike in dowry in my youngest daughter’s marriage. I had spent a lot of money during Sahani’s marriage as well, but look now he killed my daughter over the dowry issue.” The bereaved father demanded stringent punishment for those involved in the alleged ‘murder’. According to District Police Office Rautahat Spokesperson Nabin Karki, Rambabu and his father were arrested for investigation. “Post-mortem of the body was over and we are investigating the case. Everything will be clear after we receive post-mortem report and the investigation is over,” he said, adding the body was handed over to the kin following post-mortem.
