Damauli, September 14 With a view to minimising road accidents, traffic police in Tanahun have taken initiative to clear bushes and trees along the Prithvi Highway. According to Purna Bahadur Adhikari in-charge of District Traffic Police Office, Tanahun traffic police have received support of the local youths in their campaign. “Investigation has shown that a number of traffic accidents happened as the drivers couldn’t see the vehicles coming from opposite direction because of bushes and trees along the sides of the road. Therefore, we started the campaign to clear vegetation on the sides of road,” said Adhikari. During the campaign, roadside bushes and trees along one kilometre stretch in Anbukhaireni were cleared, according to Temporary Traffic Police Post Anbukhaireni chief inspector Ramkrishna Gauli. “With the help of youths of local youth club, we’ve trimmed around 60 trees and cleared a lot of bushes today,” said Gauli, adding that clearing of roadside vegetation was necessary due to increasing accident cases in Anbukhaireni area. DTPO Tanahun in-charge Adhikari, said such campaign can be run in other places to reduce possibility of road accidents. “Roadside bushes and trees aren’t the only reasons behind increasing accident cases, but they are one of the reasons,” Adhikari said.
