Former BKPIHS VC Das released on bail

Kathmandu, September 15 The Supreme Court today granted bail to former vice-chancellor of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Balbhadra Prasad Das after he posted a bank guarantee of  Rs 10 million. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on July 15 had filed a corruption case against Das and seven others, including two equipment suppliers, at the Special Court. Defendants include the institute’s former director Arvinda Kumar Sinha, former registrar Nanda Kumar Thapa, Registrar Tul Bahadur Shrestha, Accounts Chief Dinesh Raj Dahal, Deputy Manager Amit Shrivastav, proprietor of Biomed International Pvt Ltd Chetan Agrawal and Upkaran Suppliers Surgical Distributors’ Umesh Agrawal.
