Market monitoring intensified in Dhankuta

Dhankuta, September 25 With the festivals around the corner, Dhankuta District Administration Office has monitored various markets in the district. Small and Cottage Industry Office, in coordination with District Administration Office, carried out monitoring of all markets in the district. Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice-chair Man Kumari Titung said the market monitoring team seized date-expired cold drinks. The team said almost all the shopkeepers were not providing bills after selling goods, they kept alcoholic drinks, along with grocery items, in their shops and sold the tobacco containing materials. The team said the shop owners had been warned that the price of materials should be uniform in all the shops. Dhankuta Market Management Committee Chair Biplov Shrestha said a week’s time was given to shop owners to mend their ways. The market monitoring team had inspected shops in Bhedetar bazaar of Sangurigadi Rural Municipality last Sunday. The team said food items in the hotels of Bhedetar were stale. Chief of Small and Cottage Industry Office Dinesh Dhungana said the shops were being operated without meeting the basic criteria. The team also inspected different shops at Hile Bazaar of Dhankuta Municipality on Monday. The team said almost all shops were operating without registration and renewal. The team further added that almost all medicine shops were also operated without meeting the criteria.
