Janakpurdham, September 25 Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal presidium member Rajendra Mahato today said his party would unify with Samajbadi Party only if the latter quit the government. Speaking at a press meet organised in Janakpurdham, Mahato held that unification of the two parties after Samajbadi Party quitthe government would help create an alternative political force in the country.  “We cannot form an alternative force with the SP sitting in the government,” Mahato said, adding, “Unity will start only after Samajbadi Party quits the government”. Mahato clarified that two parties would unite as of equals. He said his party had held informal talks with the SP for unification. He recalled that six Madhesi parties had come together as per the people’s sentiment and will. “All Madheis parties have to unify to provide rights to Madhes and Madhesi people,” he stated. Mahato, who is also a lawmaker of the House of Representatives, said that two-thirds people were still against the new statute. He clarified that his party would not accept the constitution until it was amended. When asked about the dispute between the mayor and deputy mayor of Hansapur Municipality in Dhanusha,  Mahato argued that it was unfortunate that they could not collaborate despite winning the polls from the same party. “The party is working to resolve the dispute. I believe that both will reconcile,” he added. An elderly man was killed when the dispute between Mayor Ramgyan Mandal and Deputy Mayor Renu Jha took an ugly turn over the centre of the municipality. Both Mandal and Jha have filed murder cases against each other with the police. Both have gone out of contact, which has left the municipality’s regular work affected.
