Lalitpur, May 11:
Both the government and the CPN (Maoist), in their codes of conduct, should express commitment to protect children from being victims of armed conflict, human rights activists and educationists said today.
Speaking at an interaction on ‘Children’s Issues and Ceasefire Code of Conduct’, NHRC member Sudip Pathak said the children should be protected from the effects of armed conflict. Status of children taken captive by both the parties should be made public and they should permitted to reunite with their families without any terms and conditions, he said. Bhola Dahal, representative of Save the Children, Norway said code of conduct should address issues like discrimination and sexual exploitation of children.
