Jhapa, October 25 A team from the Investment Board inspected the proposed site for industrial park in Jhapa. The park, tipped to be the country’s largest, will spread over 1,600 hectare land of Damak Municipality, Gauradaha Municipality and Kamala Rural Municipality. The inspection team led by IB Chief Executive Officer Maha Prasad Adhikari, including Nepal Industrial Estate Management Limited Chairperson Nanda Kishor Basnet and the proposed China-Nepal Friendly Industrial Park Chairperson Govind Thapa met the locals and held an interaction with them about the project yesterday. At the interaction, Nepali Congress leader Padam Sedhai said he was happy at the prospect of having the park in Jhapa. “I’ve over five bigaha land at the proposed site for the park, but I’m happy to sacrifice my land for the project, which will be a game changer for this place and the region as a whole,” he said, urging the leaders not do politics in the develop projects. Another local Jagan Dhimal said he didn’t have any regret for losing his land to the project. “This is the place which was nurtured by my ancestors with their sweat. But I am not sad at having lost my land as it is for the good of my children and the country,” Dhimal said. During the interaction, the locals urged the inspecting team to create environment to start the park construction at the earliest. It is important to note that the project is the first to be constructed in Nepal under the Chinese government’s ambitious Belt and Road Project.
