Ex-staffers force closure of Sajha Yatayat office

Lalitpur, May 13:

Former employees of the Sajha Yatayat have locked its central office since Friday, demanding dismissal of its executive head and all decisions taken by him.

They have accused the Sajha administration of compelling them to leave the office without “paying their dues”.

A case filed by them is sub-judice at the apex court. The hearing on the case has been scheduled for May 16.

All services of the Sajha Yatayat have remained suspended today following the lockout. According to Shambhu KC, traffic head of the Sajha Yatayat, Sajha has

18 microbuses besides its regular 10 long-route services, two buses at the Tribhuvan International Airport and one Pashupati Darshan service.

Meanwhile, the agitating former employees have formed a seven-member committee under the leadership of Chandra Prasad Dhakal.

Hom Nath Sharma, former deputy executive head of Sajha Yatayat, said the employees were forcefully laid off without providing compensation.

However, some 115 employees working for the state-owned transport body, Sajha Yatayat, today accused their former colleagues of conspiring to shut the transport body that got rebirth.

Issuing a press statement, they have appealed to all the former employees not to fall in the conspiracy and come up to solve the problem through dialogue.

They also claimed that “over-staffing and impunity had led the state-run Sajha Yatayat to close down in the past and the same crowd is once again trying to close it forever.”

They further claimed that the employees who have already received their dues and voluntarily resigned have been creating trouble.

Some 40 employees of the transport body, who have been forced to stay on leave, without pay are also on strike.
