Chitwan, November 4 President of the Parliamentary Committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights, Krishna Bhakta Pokharel said removal of governors from their posts in all seven provinces should be viewed as a normal phenomenon. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had, upon recommendation of the Council of Ministers, relieved the governors of all seven provinces of their post yesterday as per the Article 165 (1) (b) of the constitution of Nepal. At a programme organised here by the Federation of Nepali Journalists Chitwan chapter, Pokharel clarified that the government could consider reshuffling the appointment of governors of provinces as per its convenience since the governors were appointed as representatives of the provincial government. Pokharel argued, “The recently removed governors were appointed by the erstwhile government. We now have government of two-thirds. It would have been a wise move for them to tender their resignation themselves in such a scenario but they did not. Hence, they were normally and naturally relieved of their posts as per constitutional provisions.” Claiming that the incumbent government was completely successful in sectors such as implementation of laws and maintaining international relations, he said that mega development projects across the country were moving ahead at a good speed. Pokharel pledged to allocate some budget from the Parliament Development Fund for the construction of physical infrastructure in Chitwan. The committee president assured, “Since positive efforts were under way for achieving good-governance, the commitments made with the public would be fulfilled.” Pokharel, who was elected from Chitwan Constituency 2, had briefed about the development endeavours in his constituency and informed that there were some issues related to electrification in the mountainous area which, he said, would be resolved at the earliest. Likewise, FNJ Chitwan Chapter President Radheshyam Khatiwada shared that similar events would be organised in other places in the district where parliamentarians would hold interaction with media persons and locals.
