KATHMANDU: Nepal national volleyball team sailed into the final of the first AVC Asian Central Zone Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship with a 3-0 victory over Bangladesh at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday. Nepal defeated the hosts team 25-7, 25-6, 15-6 to register their third straight win in the five-team tournament and made it to final with one game remaining. Nepal’s debutant blocker Sunita Khadka, who accumulated vital five points, was declared the player of the match. She plays for Tribhuvan Army Club in the domestic tournament in Nepal. With the win, Nepal topped the table with nine points, while the Maldives — who also entered final — are second with eight points. Kyrgyzstan (four points) and Bangladesh (three points) are third and fourth respectively, while winless Afghanistan are at the bottom. The final is slated for Thursday.
