Six held in possession of animal hide

DHADINGBESI: Police said six persons were arrested in possession of leopard skin from Chalise of Gajuri Rural Municipality-2 in Dhading district, on Saturday. Acting on a tip-off, a police team deployed from Area Police Office, Gajuri and District Police Office, Dhading arrested six persons in possession of the leopard skin and made them public at the DPO, today. Police identified the arrestees as Bhairam Parja, 37, of Gajuri Rural Municipality-3, Rajendra Tamang, 34, Gyan Bahadur BK, 21, Ashish Tamang, 25, Raj Kumar Tamang, 21, and Santa Tamang, 57, of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality in the district. A police patrol team intercepted motorcycles (Ba 18 Pa 9693, Ga 7 Pa 5963 and Ga 6 Pa 1645) heading towards the highway from Balsingh area and seized the animal hide from their possession, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Raj Kumar Baidawar. Subsequently, police arrested them and impounded the two-wheelers used in the crime and their mobile phones for further investigation, police said. As per the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act (1973), the seized animal hide would be sent to the Division Forest Office, Dhading, for further action and investigation, SP Baidawar added.
