Sunsari, November 25 Police arrested nine persons calling for a boycott of the upcoming by-election in Sunsari’s Dharan. According to Dharan Area Police Office Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Dhundiraj Neupane, the arrests were made from Dharan’s Chhata Chowk when the youths were soliciting people to boycott the November 30 by-election for the post of Dharan sub-metropolis mayor and Ward No 7 chairperson. “They were arrested for trying to terrorise the public,” informed DSP Neupane. The Area Police office chief added that action had been initiated against them by filing a case. The arrested have been identified as Udayapur’s Tikaram Rai, Dharan’s Parak Limbu, Mohan Limbu, Padam Tamang, Paras Limbu, Ram Bahadur Poudel and Gaurav Rai, Jhapa’s Jaya Acharya, and Itahari’s Santosh Thakur. Further, police identified them as cadres of the CP Gajurel-led Deshbhakta Ganatantrik Morcha — three of them are central member and the remaining are provincial members. Police said they confiscated a sound box, a wireless microphone and 15 pamphlets of the Gajurel-led party from the arrested. The arrested are cadres of the CP Gajurel-led Deshbhakta Ganatantrik Morcha.
