CPN (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the House of Representatives reinstated by the people’s movement need a break, not dissolution.

He was speaking at a talk programme titled, ‘late Madan Bhandari’s ideas in the current political situation of Nepal,’ organised by the CPN (UML) Kaski district chapter on the occasion of 13th Madan Ashrit anniversary in Pokhara today.

“Dissolving the HoR in haste would not be shrewd,” Nepal said, adding it should continue till the formation of another body of people’s representatives.

The House proclamation need to come as early as possible and then the House needs to be given a break, he added.

Nepal admitted that the government is delaying to take decisions in line with the people’s aspirations, but said: “Doing things in a democratic way takes some time”.

About the controversy over Deuba’s reported remarks, he said media reports quoting Deuba are “baseless.”

CPN (UML) standing committee member Bam Dev Gautam has claimed that monarchy in Nepal will end within a year.

He made this remark while addressing the 13th memorial meet in honour of CPN (UML) leaders Madan Bhandari and Jiv Raj Ashrit organised by the ANNFSU central committee in Chitwan’s Kabilas Village Development Committee, Dasdhunga, today, he predicted that earlier the election to the constituent assembly sooner will the end of monarchy come.

The country will enter into the democratic republic system after the House proclamation, he said, adding that Nepalese people can have a bright future only in democracy.

“The seven-party alliance should join hands with the Maoists to form an eight-party alliance to finish the monarchy in Nepal”, he said.

“Now the target should be the king and pro-king elements,” he said, adding not only Kamal Thapa but even Tulsi Giri should be sent to jail. President of the All-Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) Khim Lal Bhattarai said the goal of the pro-democracy movement is yet to be achieved.
