Maoists release one

BARA: The Maoists on Saturday evening released Shiv Mangal Prasad Chaurasiya, 40, a resident of Kabahi Jabdi VDC-5, whom they had abducted from Bariyarpur of Bara on April 30. Shambhu Mandal, vice-chief of the Maoists’ Bara Janasarkar, handed him over to INSEC district representative Roshan Raj Aryal at Bisunpurba, it is said. As he vowed not to be involved in violent activities, he was released, said the Maoist sources. — HNS

New climbing wall

POKHARA: French Ambassador to Nepal, Mitchell Jolivet, inaugurated the Mouris Hargon Artificial Mountaineering Rock Wall at the International Mountain Museum, Pokhara, amid a function on Sunday. The wall was constucted with the financial and technical backing of the French government. The wall will be used to train mountaineers and those interested in rock climbing. The Nepal Mountaineers’ Association had put in Rs 6 lakhs to build the wall. — RSS

Film journos’ day

KATHMANDU: The Film Journalists Association extended best wishes to all film journalists on the occasion of the Film Journalists’ Day on Sunday. President of the association Bidur Giri said two persons will get the film journalists’ award and one the film journalism honour. — RSS
