Two youths test positive for COVID-19 in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: Two youths have tested positive for the coronavirus disease in Rautahat district. A 24-year-old male from Bhusaha in Brindaban Municipality-9 and another 21-year-old male from Dewahi Gonahi Municipality-1 have tested positive for the virus. The 24-year-old person, who tested positive for COVID-19, had returned home after spending a fortnight at a Chandrapur-based quarantine facility. He was under quarantine after returning from Kolkata in India. He had been allowed to go back home after completing his quarantine period. He tested negative for antibodies on Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) and negative for the virus through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method carried out in Janakpur. However, his swab sample collected by a medical team on April 24 and sent to Kathmandu-based National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) tested positive for the novel virus. People in Bhusaha village are worried after the youth tested positive on completion of his quarantine period as he has been moving around the village. Extra alertness has been adopted in the area. Likewise, the 21-year-old from Devahi Gonahi has tested positive for coronavirus, confirmed acting chief at Gaur-based District Health Office, Mahesh Sah. He is still under quarantine at Jai Kishan Polytechnic Institute in the district. It has been learnt that he is a permanent resident of Gajura Municipality. He had travelled to Nepal from Delhi in India and is known to have entered the country during the lockdown. He worked in a bag factory located at Paharganj in the Indian capital. It has further been reported that preparations are going on to send both the infected to Narayani Hospital in Birgunj for isolation and treatment. A COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) team from Kathmandu had taken back swab samples of 83 persons from eight different quarantine facilities in the district on April 24 and 25 for tests at the NPHL. From among them, reports of the two youths came out positive.
