RAJBIRAJ, SEPTEMBER 1 Police arrested two entrepreneurs for creating artificial shortage and engaging in black marketing of chemical fertiliser from Saptakoshi Municipality, Saptari, today. Local farmers are facing problems due to lack of chemical fertiliser. They said local businessmen were creating artificial shortage and selling fertiliser at inflated price. The arrested have been identified as Radhekrishna Gupta of Radhekrishna Khadyannya Store and Aarati Krishi Cooperative Limited’s fertiliser selling depot operator Phutunga Sah of Phattepur. A police team deployed from Phattepur Police Post arrested the duo after local farmers reported they were selling chemical fertiliser at double the price by creating shortage in the market. The police team also raided their godowns. Police said they seized 28 sacks of urea and six sacks of DPA from the godowns of the arrested. Police added that the duo had created artificial shortage of fertiliser in the market and sold it at double the market price. Police said black marketeers were selling fertiliser at Rs 40 per kg, which is double the market price. Police have sealed the godowns.
