KATHMANDU: A day after a high voltage drama following the government's introduction of an ordinance on Constitutional Council Act and eventual agreement to repeal the same, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a meeting of the Council at 5pm, today. As per the PM's Secretariat, the meeting will be held in Baluwatar. However, member of the Council main opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba will not attend the meeting, it has been learnt.

The Prime Minister on Wednesday agreed to withdraw the ordinance issued Tuesday to amend the Constitutional Council Act in exchange for the withdrawal of a petition prepared by the faction of the party led by Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal seeking special session of the Parliament. NCP lawmakers Bhim Rawal and Pampha Bhusal had gone to the president’s office to register their petition. Oli even attended the Standing Committee meeting on Wednesday after both sides reached a truce. NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the PM told the Standing Committee meeting that the Constitutional Council meeting convened yesterday as per the new ordinance had not taken any decision.
