Dense fog occurs due to influence of Westerly wind

KATHMANDU: Fog has covered most parts of the country due to the influence of the Westerly wind, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

Fog is seen in the Kathmandu Valley among other places across the country in the morning due to the impact of the Westerly wind. Meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar said the weather would be foggy in most parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, in the morning for one or two days more. 'The fog will gradually disappear after midday and it would be sunny after that,' Manandhar said. The weather is partly cloudy in Gandaki, Bagmati, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces while remaining generally fair in the rest of the country. It will be partly cloudy in the hilly region of Province 1 and Bagmati province towards the afternoon while remaining fair in rest of the country. As per the latest weather update shared by the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the Kathmandu Valley recorded minimum temperature 3.6 degrees Celsius (°C) and a maximum temperature of 19.2°C today. Similarly, the lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Jumla. It was minus 3.4°C while the highest minimum temperature was recorded in Bhairahawa at 5.5°C.
