KATHMANDU: Vice-chair of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Bamdev Gautam has visited party co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, on Saturday morning. Gautam who was sworn-in as a member of the National Assembly in September met Dahal at the latter's residence in Khumaltar, Lalitpur. It has been learnt that the two leaders discussed on the issues of dissolution of the House of Representatives and NCP undergoing a split. The ruling NCP suffered a vertical split on December 22 with the rival factions of the party -- one led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the other led by Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal -- claiming their faction to be the authentic NCP in separate central committee meetings held in the capital. The faction led by Dahal-Nepal removed PM Oli from the post of party co-chair and unanimously nominated leader Nepal as the new party co-chair. On the other hand, Oli told his faction leaders that their faction was the real NCP and that the other faction had no authority to call party meetings. The two NCP leaders, Gautam and Dahal, have met today in the wake of a large demonstration led by Dahal-Nepal faction in Kathmandu on Friday. The protest was held against PM Oli's controversial and 'unconstitutional' move of dismantling the parliament. Featured Image: File
