DHANGADHI: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reached Dhangadhi as per schedule to address a mass gathering in the district this afternoon. Thousands of people are expected to attend the gathering even with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. A few ministers and leaders from Oli led faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party are slated to address the event. However, representatives from the Karnali Province Government were not present at the airport to receive the Prime Minister. As per Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta's secretariat, the state government had not received any formal information regarding the Prime Minister's visit. It is to be noted that the ruling Nepal Communist Party has a government in the state wherein a comfortable majority is held by the Dahal-Nepal faction. The group also holds a majority in the Provincial Assembly in Karnali. Meanwhile, a large number of security personnel have been mobilised in Dhangadhi and other areas of Kailali district since Friday morning for the arrival of the PM. This would be the first time after dissolution of the House of Representatives and split in the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) that chairperson of one of the splinter groups, PM Oli, would be addressing a mass gathering outside Kathmandu valley.
