NA distributes blankets to poor

BARA, JANUARY 17 Nepali Army distributed blankets to 150 poor and Dalit people in Jitpursimara sub-metropolis, Bara, today. The blankets were distributed to needy people in the presence of Brigadier General Jonsan Khadka of Nepali Army Shree No 28 Bahini Adda at Lamidanda today. Khadka said such gestures would play a significant role in establishing good relations with the public. He added that the NA worked for the people’s welfare. “NA is ever ready to help the victims of flood, fire, and cold wave, among other disasters,” he said. Khadka said that the NA team was deployed to provide immediate relief materials, including health service to the poor and Dalits, among other people, who were at risk of disaster. NA distributed the warm blankets aiming to protect the poor from the cold wave. The economically backward Musahar, Majhi and Paswan, among other communities of Ward No 17 and 18 of the sub-metropolis received the blankets. Earlier, NA had also launched a free health camp in Karaiyamai Rural Municipality. Shree Chandannath Battalion Chief Shyam Saran Gotame said that more than 1,000 people had benefited from the free health camp. Durga Majhi, a Majhi woman of Ward No 17 in the sub-metropolis, said the poor were very happy after receiving blankets. She said they were worried with the onset of the cold season. Majhi added they were facing the difficulty in making ends meet and the cold had added to their woes. Most of the households in the community lack warm clothes. Ghoni Majhi, a local, said they had to wear worn out clothes even during the bone-biting cold. She said they felt relief after receiving the blankets. She added the poor had praised the works of the NA .
