Covid-19 vaccines arriving in Nepal from India

KATHMANDU: The consignment of Covid-19 vaccines has left India for Nepal. According to the official spokesperson at Ministry of External Affairs in India, Anurag Srivastava, the consignment of Made in India Covid vaccines took off for Nepal this morning. India under the 'Vaccine Maitri' initiative is providing vaccines as aid to its neighbouring countries. As part of its programme, India had sent the Covid-19 vaccines to Bhutan and Maldives yesterday. India is to aid Nepal with 1 million doses of vaccine against the coronavirus. The information was made public on Wednesday by Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi at a joint press meet, where Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra was also present. It has been learnt that the vaccine will first be administered on health and other frontline workers.
