RAJBIRAJ, JANUARY 20 Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav today said that dissolution of the House of Representatives was unconstitutional and undemocratic. Yadav further warned that not reinstating the Parliament would put republicanism and federalism at risk. Addressing a mass meeting organised by his party in Saptari headquarters Rajbiraj, Yadav slammed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for dissolving the Parliament. “KP Oli’s move dissolving the Parliament proves that he is an autocrat,” he added. Yadav said that KP Oli’s move was a coup, which was more dangerous than that of former kings Mahendra and Gyanendra’s coup. He argued that Oli’s move was unconstitutional and the country might lose all the accomplishments gained so far through long and hard struggles. He stressed the need to wage a struggle to protect the political gains and the constitution itself. “We have to safeguard the rights guaranteed by the constitution and continue fighting for the remaining rights.” At the programme, JSP-N leader Rajendra Mahato said the party was waging a protest to correct the mistakes committed by PM Oli. “The constitution was promulgated despite the differences with the Madhesi, indigenous and marginalised people. But, Oli has murdered the constitution itself,” he stated. Flaying the prime minister, Mahato accused Oli of killing Madhesi people in the past and murdering the constitution now. He said that reinstating the House of the Representatives would be the first step to bring the derailed politics back on track. He said that amending the constitution to incorporate the voices and demands of the Madhesi and minority people should be the next priority. Furthermore, he said that dislodging Oli from the prime minister’s post was necessary as it would not be possible to amend the statute under Oli’s leadership.
