Nine more Nepalis die of Covid-19 abroad

KATHMANDU: Nine more Nepalis who were living abroad have succumbed to the coronavirus infection. According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association, four Nepalis died in the UK, three in Kuwait, one each in Portugal and Malaysia last week. The health committee of NRNA said, the death-toll of Nepalis living abroad has climbed to 327 in 20 countries.” Dr Sanjeev Sapkota, coordinator of NRNA health committee said, a total of 56,026 Nepalis in 50 foreign countries have tested positive for Covid-19 till date. As many as 53,432 have recovered. The recovery rate is 97.5 percent. The health committee has further informed that 2,000 Nepalis get infected on average every week. Similarly, higher number of Nepalis tested positive for the infection in the UK, Portugal, Spain, Poland, Malaysia, Japan, and the Gulf countries. So far, 1,994 persons have lost their lives in Nepal due to the coronavirus.
