KATHMANDU:
In order to streamline and boost exports, freight forwarders, cargo traders and private sector representatives have demanded enactment of a multi-modal transportation act.
To mark the 12th Nepal Cargo Day, Nepal Freight
Forwarders Association (NEFFA) organised a programme on Saturday.
Narendra Bikram Nemwang, minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs said the government would simplify legal procedures and enact new laws according to the need of the sector. Chandi Raj Dhakal, president of FNCCI, said that the government has not paid adequate attention to the export sector.
The government has yet not enacted the multi-modal transport act, said Surendra Bir Malakar, president of NCC. Namgyal Lama, president of NEFFA said ICD at Birgunj has not been fully operational due to lack of regulation for multi-modal transportation.
