Royals have 181 ropanis of land in Pokhara

Pokhara, August 10:

A total of 181 ropanis of land in Pokhara is in the royal family’s name. According to the District Land Revenue Office (DLRO), Kaski, of the total 181 ropanis which mostly lie on the bank of Fewa Lake, 7 ropanis 7 aanas and 7 paise are in the name of the present Queen Mother’s late mother Ishwori Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah. The remaining 174 ropanis are in the name of Ratna Mandir Palace.

The 174 ropanis of land include Ratna Mandir, land to the west of Ratna Mandir, Hema Griha and some barren land at Ratna Chowk, according to the record at the DLRO. Ratna Mandir Palace alone is spread over 111 ropanis and 9 aanas of land in ward number 6 of Pokhara municipality. The Ratna Mandir land is divided into four plots, numbering 1128, 1129, 1130 and 1131.

Some 24 ropanis and 7 aanas in plot number 1762 and 24 ropanis of land in plot number 1763 lying to the west of Ratna Mandir also are in the name of Ratna Mandir Palace.

Hema Griha is spread over 10 ropanis in plot number 1038 on the bank of Fewa Lake. Two ropanis in plot number 1270 where the palace office has been built and 1 ropani 12 aanas of barren land at Ratna Chowk are also in the name of Ratna Mandir, the Kaski DLRO said.

DLRO official Arjun Yonjan said that there was no land or any other property in the royal family’s name elsewhere in Pokhara other than this.

He added that the details of the property have been made available to the House of Representatives.
