RELATIONSHIPS: That beautiful apparition

RELATIONSHIPS: That beautiful apparition

By Samir Prasad Timilsina

Kathmandu:

My house in the middle of a crowed market area here. One Sunday evening as I was sipping a coffee, a lady appeared on the street in tight jeans and sleeveless tee-shirt and she started going up and down the street as if looking for someone of some place.

She was exceptionally beautiful and I could not help but shout out to her from my verandah if she needed any help.

But the noise and heavy traffic drowned out my helpful voice.

So I ran down the st-eps. But when I reached the streets, she was now-here to be seen. I looked for her but she had disappeared like the mist.

I came back but could not put her out of my mind. My thoughts kept going back to her. And as I was trying to recall this beautiful apparition, the sound of someone knocking on the door jarred my beautiful thoughts.

Grumbling, I went to open the door only to find her standing right in front of me with my sister.

Though I did not know why she was here, but completely welcomed her to my home.

I was curious to know why she was here, and moreover my my elder sister was with her, and that meant there was something mysterious behind that lady’s visit.

Then my sister told me that this beauty was my childhood friend Riva, who had settled in

England with her family. Our fathers had been very good friends, and to mark their deep love and respect for each other Riva’s marriage to me had been finalised when we were 12 years old.

Riva had always been my dream girl and I had spent hours and hours just thinking about her. She was in Nepal after a long to keep her late father’s word to marry me. I had not even believed in my wildest dreams that she would return one day to marry me.

However, my family had known for more than a year that she would be coming back. My elder sister had had a difficult time trying to keep the secret. They said they had been waiting for the right time.

What was better time than now was te right time?

This girl whom I’d dreamt about for such a long time, got to her feet and asked me to marry her.

I was dumbfounded. I could not believe her. Here was my dream coming true.

And I could do nothing more but hold her hand tightly in mine.

It is said marriages are made in the heaven. What do you think?
