Nepalgunj, August 19:
Vehicles remained off the roads today due to Bardiya bandh called by the locals to protest the killing of Sushil Gyawali yesterday by the Maoists. No public transport vehicles left the district. Headquarters Gulariya and other main bazaars also wore a deserted look.
Police said the situation in Bardiya was normal today. Thousands of locals took to the streets to protest the killing. They demanded action against the culprits and apology from Maoists. Human rights activists said the situation here was tense today.
