Kathmandu, May 1:
After the invention of automatic motor operator, the duo of Ram and Laxman Prasad Rimal, 22, have now come up with a cornseeder and anti-theft security device.
After a three-year study, the two young men from Nuwakot have successfully invented devices which could save time and labour.
Cornseeder is a device to sow corn. “Cornseeder helps keep the exact distance needed between the two corn seeds while ploughing,” said Ram Prasad Rimal. He said it would save time and effort of people working in the fields.
Cornseeder is a cylindrical iron device which has to be attached to a plough. With the use of wheel movements, it drops corn seeds at a distance equal to the circumference of the wheel. Though they claim to have spent Rs 0.25 million on it, the cornseeder will cost around Rs 10,000-12,000.
The anti-theft security device consists of a magnetic induction switch and a magnet. The magnet is attached to the door and the movement of the door switches on the blinker, which trips the alarm.
The duo plan to make this device available in the market for Rs 1,500 though the production cost is Rs 15,000-16,000.
Though they say they have got a positive response from the National Agricultural Research Council for cornseeder, they are waiting to hear from the council officially. The Rimals have a manufacturing company at Gangabu, Ganesthan.
