Nobel Academy win :
KATHMANDU: The Nepali U-17 Nobel Academy beat Manipur 7-1 in the 46th Subroto Mukherjee Cup Inter-school Football Tournament in New Delhi today. Ranjit Shrestha and Roshan Karki struck twice while Bharat Khawas, Prabin Karki and Amir Shrestha scored one goal each. The Academy boys will play Afghanistan team on Wednesday after mauling Jammu & Kashmir 14-1 and Tamil Nadu 10-0 in its league matches earlier. — HNS
Women’s football :
LALITPUR: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is organising the first Women’s Football Tournament at the Dasharath Stadium from October 8 in Kathmandu. A total fo 23 teams — 22 districts and one from Armed Police Force Officers’ Club — will vie for the championship. According to the ANFA president Ganesh Thapa the selection tournament of the district teams have already begun. The participating districts are Ilam, Panchthar, Dhankutta, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Dhanusa, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Chiwan, Makwanpur, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Kavre, Nawalparasi, Rupendehi, Kaski, Syangja, Banke, Kailali and Kanchanpur. The estimated costs of the tournament is Rs 1.2 million. — HNS
Kanchanjangha win :
LALITPUR: Kanchanjangha beat Sagarmatha 5-2 in the sixth Inter-Chyasal Football Tournament today. Panchabir Byanjankar, Suresh Byanjankar, Hera Kaji Byanjankar, Rajendra Byanjankar and Rajendra Deula scored for Kanchanjangha while Sanjay Byanjankar and Aman Byanjankar scored for Sagarmatha. Machhapuchre defeated Dhaulagiri Group 6-1 in another match. Ravi Maharjan and Bhola Byanjankar struck twice while Ramesh Byanjankar and Sabin Byanjankar scored a goal each. Shanker Byanjankar pulled back one for Dhaulagiri. — HNS
