Indian assistance

KATHMANDU: The government of India has agreed to provide Rs 29.4 million for the construction of a Nursing Campus building in Morang. A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed between the Embassy of India, District Development Committee Morang and Shree Krishna Prasad Koirala Sewa Guthi, Morang on Friday, the Embassy of India said in a press statement. The assistance will enable the campus to conduct Auxiliary Nurse Midwife courses, an important project in the health sector. — HNS

Girl found dead

BARA: Sahana Ansari, a 12-year-old daughter of Wakil Ansari of Kalaiya- 8, was found dead in a pond near the Janahit Library on Friday, the Bara District Police Office said. Sahana had left home at around 11 am on Thursday. Relatives of the girl contacted the police after the girl did not return home. According to the District Police Office, Sahana was found dead at 6:30 am on Friday. — HNS

Bridge inaugurated

PARBAT: A central member of the Nepali Congress and parliamentarian, Arjun Prasad Joshi, inaugurated a suspended bridge over Khahare rivulet. The 120-metre-long bridge links ward numbers 2 and 5 of Khurkot Village Development Committee (VDC). The suspension bridge is situated at the highest point in Dhaulagiri zone. The bridge was constructed with the assistance of District Development Committee, Village Development Committee, the Khurkot Youth Club. Various speakers, including Chief District Officer Kamal Kant Regmi, expressed their views at the inauguration programme presided over by chairman of the Bridge Construction Committee, Tika Ram Sharma. — RSS

Hospital planned

DAMAULI: A gathering of people of Tanahun has decided to build a 25-bed, well-equipped hospital in Damauli. A nine-member hospital construction ad hoc committee has been constituted under the coordination of Shanker Narayan Shrestha to build the hospital. The construction work will start after Tihar. — RSS

Call for equal rights

TULSIPUR: Sogatu Bir Chaudhary of the Indigenous Association, Dang, inaugurating the 13th general meeting of the Tharu Welfare Meeting Regional Office, Lamahi, said the new constitution should ensure equal rights and equal opportunities for all castes. An annual report of the association and its financial report were also presented at the general meeting. — RSS

FM station soon

GAJURI: The Rural Media Cooperative Organisation is all set to run an FM radio station in Dhading district. According to secretary of the organisation, Subash Khatiwada, the government has given permission to run the FM station. The FM station will mainly cover local news. — RSS

Thapa in New Delhi

NEW DELHI: Former prime minister and chairperson of the Rastriya Jana Shakti Party, Surya Bahadur Thapa, met Indian defence minister Pranab Mukherjee and the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Lal Krishna Advani on Friday morning. They discussed issues related to the welfare of both countries during the meeting, said Thapa. Thapa said he was eager to meet Indian PM Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and chairperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party Raj Nath Singh. — HNS

KASKI: Sabitri Bharati, mother of Yuvaraj Bharati, a kidney patient, has sought help for her son’s treatment. Yuvaraj is undergoing treatment at the Manipal Teaching Hospital Pokhara. Both of Yuvaraj’s kidneys need transplantation at earliest. — RSS

KASKI: The Nepal Drug Entrepreneurs’ Association and Machhapuchhre Dental Service organised a free dental camp here. The proprietor of the Dental Service, Raja Ram Koirala, said altogether 280 people were provided dental care. — RSS

One killed in brawl

RAJBIRAJ: Hira Lal Khang of Lohajara-2 of Saptari killed his younger brother, Hari Narayan Khang, as a brawl broke out between them over property, the Area Police Office, Kanchanpur, said. Meanwhile, one Dan Bahadur, 65 was found dead on the bank of the Triyuga river. — RSS
