Kathmandu, October 17:

Jana Morcha Nepal is launching a month-long national campaign for constituent assembly polls and a republican system next month, party chairman Chitra Bahadur KC told a press conference today.

“A nationwide campaign for constituent assembly and republican system is being launched on November 17 to gather mass support for a republican set up.” He said the Maoists are continuously violating the agreements reached with the seven-party alliance by collecting donations forcefully in the capital as well as on highways. “Even the army, police and the political parties became helpless when the Maoist cadres misbehaved with mediapersons in Baluwatar recently,” he said.

He also objected the Maoists’ intention of keeping the arms till the election to the constituent assembly. He said his party believes that the monarchy should be ‘eradicated’ through institutional and organisational efforts but added that the concept of a republican front proposed by the Maoists cannot be accepted because of their “social fascist nature”. KC strongly defended the allegation made by his former comrades that he misused Rs 700,000 sent by the Bharat Nepali Ekata Samaj during the people’s movement. “Those who accuse me should show tangible evidence, which they lack.”
