KATHMANDU: The week-long jazz festival Surya Classic Jazzmandu 2006 came to an end on October 18 at the Upstairs Bar with all the Jazzmandu musicians jamming the evening (and most of the night) away.
Earlier in the day, the Jazzmandu musicians had held a Jazz for the Next Generation workshop
at Nepal Music Centre.
Jazzmandu, dubbed as Kathmandu’s very own jazz festival, saw a huge turnout at most of the venues. The Free Jazz at Basantapur took jazz music into the midst of the common people, who perhaps heard jazz for the first time that day. The Jazz at Patan saw some of the best Jazz performances by a saxophonist the City had ever witnessed, while our own musicians won applauds for their own un-ique performances.
