Deusi hubbub triggers Syangja bandh

Syangja, October 26:

Normal life was affected today following a Syangja bandh called by a group of locals led by the president of the Syangja Chambers of Commerce and Industries’ Association, Krishna Man Shrestha.

The bandh was called as a mark of protest against the arrest of some youths by the police yesterday.

The bazaar was tense since midnight on Tuesday after a dispute among the local youths over a deusi-bhailo programme.

Youths of Pragatinagar in Syangja and Syangja Bazaar launched a protest after the district police office arrested five youths yesterday following a scuffle between two groups of youths.

Youths of Pragatinagar, saying that the police had arrested innocent persons, gheraoed the district police office last night.
